WPI BSU’s “Pop Style” — 20 Looks, Student Vision, and Campus Culture

By the Soul By Amé Team

There’s a distinct energy when students run the show. On April 11, 2026, Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s Black Student Union held their annual Pop Style fashion show at Alden Memorial Hall in Massachusetts, and we were deeply honored to be invited onto their runway as a featured designer.

College campuses have always been a breeding ground for where the culture moves next. WPI’s BSU brought together students, models, and creators from across the Worcester and greater Boston collegiate scene for a night centered around Black expression and community. Being welcomed into that space to share our work with the next generation of tastemakers meant everything to us.

Giving the Youth Their Flowers

For the show, we sent down 20 looks anchored around Black icons, heritage, and cultural references. But once the pieces arrived in Worcester, we stepped back.

We handed the entire collection over to the BSU student team and let them take complete creative control over the styling.

Instead of dictating how the garments should be worn from a brand perspective, we wanted to see the collection through their eyes. Watching these young creatives layer the pieces, curate the outfits, and walk the runway with complete confidence was easily the highlight of the night. It was a reminder that fashion is a two-way conversation. When you pass the mic—and the wardrobe—to young Black creatives, they elevate the vision every single time.

Honored to Be a Part of the Movement

We want to give a genuine thank you to the WPI Black Student Union executive board, the student organizers, the models, and the stylists who put their time and energy into making Pop Style happen. Spaces built by Black students for Black students are vital, and being able to contribute a piece of our work to their platform was a privilege.
